Great little table top smoker, I cook on my every week and have had great results.
Ribs, Poultry, Brisket all turn out great cooking low and slow with little or no interaction by the back yard chief. The family is enjoying the Turkey that I smoked last night for Thanksgiving.
I have the 08 model replaced by the 09. Five years later still working great. No replacement parts yet. I travel around the U.S. with it, in my 40' Motorhome. Everyone raves about it, after the eat something cooked in it.

SOOOOOOOOOOO easy, 7/1/2013
I have had my smoker since 2006, it is the SM008 but I tell you it has been great. It stays outside, covered of course. I also purchased the cabinet to sit it on so it makes it at a better height to use. I would not waste my money on any other brand even though some are much cheaper they do not have the construction quality that the Cookshack model does. I would certainly recommend Cookshack to anyone.

I've hade my 08 since 2006. it's the easiest and most reliable smoker that I've ever owned. I currently have 5 smokers two- wood only - 2-pellet and my cookshack (electric). hands down, it's the own that I have.

6 years and going strong. Friends and family from Boston who \"Don't eat Salmon\" are now ordering it. Great unit, easy to use. Constant temperature control makes it easy to attain consistent results. Checked out other units for a couple years before buying this one. If you had 6 stars I would rate it that way. Thanks.
Great smoker for home use, 4/25/2014
I got my \"vintage\" Smokette 14 years ago this week, in 2002. It's been going strong ever since. Temperature control is good, no matter what the weather conditions. I’ve smoked in the summer when it’s 100º out, and in the winter when it’s 10º. I can load, set the temp, and come back hours later for a perfect smoke. I’ve done fish, beef, pork, and foul. Also, cheese and nuts. Sure, I can’t do a whole 24# turkey, but he who cooks a whole turkey risks problems! He who smokes turkey parts to perfection is a family hero. I haven't used the charcoal grill for several seasons because electric smoking is so easy and so forgiving. The 009 is easy on the wood too. It doesn’t take much, and in the early days, I used too much, but never did use too little. If you’re thinking about purchasing a smaller, family size smoker, you won’t be disappointed with this unit.
Reliable Excellence, 7/4/2014
We've had our 008 since 2004 when it was being demo'd at a convention. Ribs, turkey, chicken, tri-tip, brisket is smoked to perfection in spite of the temperature of the day. That consistent temperature control is the key to a successful smoke.

I have had my Cookshack smoker for 15 years. It sits outside in the Florida heat and humidity every day. It has never failed to produce the best smoked products my friends have ever tasted, and there is almost no work involved. It is the best deal on the planet.
My First Smoker, 9/5/2014
(Jackson, New Jersey)
Got my first smoker used on eBay, an SM008, the older version of this smoker. It had never been used, but was missing shelves. I got new stainless steel shelves, jerky rods and a Cookshack cover for her. Went right to smoking briskets on my first run - it was amazing !! The Smokette is a very easy to use and simple smoker. This was the original smoker Cookshack made and it's like an Army Jeep, simple but tough and does the job in all weather. If you're starting out the Smokette is really tough to beat.
The Real Deal, 9/5/2014
Living in California, my wife and I searched high and low for real deal BBQ. My wife gifted me with the Cookshack for Valentine's Day after seeing it in action at the SHOT Show. I did not even know I wanted a smoker. A bit after receiving the smoker, I thought I had better try it out or I would have an upset spouse. Read the instructions, went to the market and bought pork and chicken, hickory nuggets. Fired up the smoker and off we went. 3 1/2 hours later I emptied the smoker and could not resist making a plate of Q, even though it was 10:30 at night. Sitting in bed with my plate, knife and fork working, I announced to my wife, \"honey, you have got to come and try this. This is the \"real deal.\" Coming from BBQ country in NC, that is high praise. Love my smoker and have used it frequently over the 10 or more years since having received it. It is truly a gift that keeps on giving.

Great Smoker, 9/6/2014
(Oklahoma City, OK)
I have had my SM009 since 2007. I haven't had any problems with it. I have smoked beef and pork ribs, brisket, pork shoulder, and chicken. It is so simple, it is almost set it and forget it. Friends and family always request something for special occassions and holidays. Highly recommended. Don't waste your money on cheaper models.
Terrific Little Smoker, 9/8/2014
Bought the 009 the spring of '04. The manufactured date on the data tag is 2-2-04. I use it about once a week and have had no issues what-so-ever.
When I got the smoker I knew almost nothing about making great BBQ. With a few pointers (from the cooking guide that came with it) I have been making terrific BBQ ever since. Everyone loves my BBQ whether it's ribs, pulled pork, brisket or fatties.
(Virginia Beach, Virginia)
Have had this smoker since the middle of Novemeber 2013 and it has exceeded any expectations that I had for smokers in general. I have received nothing but rave reviews from the folks I have cooked for about the quality of the food produced. I must say that my favorite is a smoked pork butt....simply amazing!!!! You will not find a better smoker on the market today for the price I paid! Quailty is top-notch...MADE IN AMERICA! Nuff said! Well done to Cookshack for making these commerical grade smokers available to the little guys!
It's just too easy, 9/10/2014
I've had my Smokette since early 2008. I can honestly say it's one of the best purchases I've ever made. It is so simple to use with amazing results. I've done butts, turkey, meatloaf, chicken, jerky, moinks (a little meatball with cheese inside) and pepper poppers. I won't go out for ribs ever again. Mine are just too good. If you want an honest to goodness first rate smoker that requires very little effort on you part and is very inexpensive to operate, look no further.
Still Going Strong, 12/16/2015
(Old Hickory, Tn.)
I bought my Smokette back in 1998, and I must say, this thing is built like a tank. I have left it outside, uncovered, for the entire time I have owned it, and I have never had a problem with it; it outlasted my outdoor house plugs! I could not be more pleased with the consistency of the performance of this machine. It does exactly what I tell it to do, every time, and the results are always fantastic!
LOVE MY SMOKER!!, 7/25/2016

Talk about \"No Muss No Fuss\" this is the best smoker in the world and very well worth the money! I bought mine in 2005 and it's still running strong!
Love it, 9/11/2016
We have had expensive smokers and grills in the past. We never could get the results we wanted and it was so frustrating to spend so much money on meat and so much time trying to keep the right temperature only to end up with shrunken shoe leather. We did get a good batch of brats one time but brisket and pork butts ended up dry and tasteless. We kind of gave up and relegated ourselves to going out for Que, which wasn't bad since we live in Kansas City. We looked around and kept coming back to CookShack smokers. We love that they are built in America and made of such quality materials. We actually looked at and talked about this smoker for 3 years before we bought it. We liked the small size, figuring that it will be able to fit in a camper when we're ready to travel after retirement. We liked the solid construction, the way it was insulated, the simplicity of the controls, and we're glad it did not have a glass door as several years ago we had a glass door grill explode on our front porch.
We went to Ponca City, OK to pick up our smoker. Karen (she's been working there 30 years!) gave us a tour of the facility and we felt great about buying our smoker Made In America right from where it was built. The smoker in the box fit right in the back of our Equinox and off we went. After seasoning, we smoked some brats and Jalapeno's stuffed with cheese. Then we tried a brisket and glory be, it was delicious! Right now, in that little smoker, we have 2 steelhead trout filets on the top shelf, beer brined chicken wings on the middle shelf for dinner, and a brisket on the bottom for my husband to take to work to share.
This smoker was a great purchase for us. I know there are smokers out there that look fine and are less expensive but we're really glad we spent the money knowing this smoker will last for years and is of the highest quality. Very happy with this choice!
